PLAINFIELD, NJ –November 19, 2025 – At the Plainfield Board of Education Business Meeting on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Board of Education approved the purchase of Apple Vision Pro devices for districtwide use. This decision represents a major step forward in advancing instructional technology and expanding immersive learning opportunities across Plainfield Public Schools.
Earlier this year, at the February 25, 2025, Business Meeting, Apple representatives introduced the Apple Vision Pro to Board commissioners, Plainfield Public Schools’ executive leadership team, and members of the community. During the presentation, Apple demonstrated how the spatial computing device blends digital content with the physical world and allows students to experience dynamic and interactive lessons that go far beyond the traditional classroom setting.
The Apple Vision Pro is Apple’s first spatial computing headset. It provides access to immersive learning environments that support deeper understanding, creativity, and hands-on exploration. The technology will be notably impactful within Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, where students will have the opportunity to engage in real-world simulations and industry-relevant training. Students in all academic areas will also benefit from new ways to visualize and interact with instructional content.
Plainfield Public Schools has been an Apple district since 2018 and currently maintains the largest partnership with Apple in the Northeast Corridor. Currently, the district already integrates iMacs, MacBooks, and iPads into instruction. With the Board’s approval of Apple Vision Pro purchases, Plainfield will become the first district in its region to implement this advanced technology at scale, strengthening the district’s commitment to innovation.
Superintendent Rashon K. Hasan, Ed. S., expressed his support for the Board’s decision. “Our vision has always been to ensure that Plainfield students have access to cutting-edge tools that prepare them for a rapidly evolving world. The Board’s approval of the Apple Vision Pro represents a significant step in that direction. This immersive technology will transform how our students engage with curriculum, break down learning barriers, and open doors to future career pathways. I want to thank the Board of Education for their leadership and continued support of innovation for our students. I also extend my appreciation to our Office of Information Technology, under the leadership of Chief Information Technology Officer Christopher Payne, for their expertise and dedication in helping bring this initiative to life.”
Shaniesha C. Evans, Ed. D., Supervisor of Career and Technical Education, shared her enthusiasm. “Our students deserve opportunities that mirror the environments they will enter in the future workforce. The Apple Vision Pro allows us to simulate industry experiences in health care, engineering, film production, and many other fields without the need for additional equipment or expanded facilities. This is an exciting moment for CTE in Plainfield, and I am thrilled for what is ahead.”
By integrating Apple Vision Pro headsets into instructional programs, Plainfield Public Schools is providing students with access to state-of-the-art tools that support exploration, creativity, and real-world skill development. This technology will empower students to participate in immersive learning experiences that were once not possible in a traditional classroom environment.
